I’m Ellen Herschel, a cognitive scientist and creative interdisciplinarian passionate about using data-driven insights and social experiences to improve well-being.
My Background
I’m a cognitive neuroscientist at the Brain & Creativity Institute and a Postdoctoral scholar in Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Southern California. I earned my PhD in 2026, and
My research focuses on the impact of music and arts programs on wellbeing including cognition and communication during development, aging, and in disease populations.
I teach courses including The Neuroscience of Creativity and Arts, Health, Technology, and Community.
Outside of Academia, I have worked in the philanthropic research industry as a Learning and Impact Intern (data analysis) at HopeLab assessing the impact of tech on health and wellbeing of youth and young adults.
